Wedding Journalism
Wedding journalism is a reportage style aimed to record the story of the whole wedding day – from events behind the scene such as the bride dressing up to the formal ceremony and the after party. The focus of this assignment is to capture a large variety of the subjects such as emotions of the people, the details of the dress as quickly as it unfold, and be able to re-tell the whole story afterward. So attention to detail, planning and anticipation of what about to happen are all important skills for this work. In order to capture the story and emotions of their most important day, I work with bride and groom a rough timing and action plans making sure everything run smoothly as possible allowing the event to unfold naturally and uninterrupted.
Environmental Portraits
Environmental portrait is portrait taken with the environment surrounding the subject – whether it is their usual working environment or as a contradictory statement. This type of shooting is focused around subject’s mood and storytelling of their lives. The shoot is naturally on a location outside the studio as an open/uncontrolled environment which makes it interesting due to the unpredictability of the location, people and the spontaneous interaction that might occur during the shoot. I tend to use off camera flashes to compliment and enhance the lighting in the scene and try to achieve the high quality lighting similar to those in the studio.
Underwater
Of all the three types, underwater photography is the most demanding in terms of equipments, preparation and physical requirements. A good underwater photographer needs to understand the behaviour of their marine subjects, where to look for and how to approach them. I started diving in 2003 and have seen many changes in the environment and deterioration of the reefs. My purpose for underwater photography is to convey the message of beauty and environmental conservation.
